Have you tried a Spartan Race? It’s an obstacle course race through 3+ miles with 20+ obstacles, depending on your commitment level. I hear it’s a super addictive, fun and interesting fitness challenge. If you talk to Spartan finishers, their excitement for it may have you signing up before thinking it through. If you’re thinking about it or not, Synners OCR is a great way to connect with a team or people who enjoy a gritty sweat.
Synergy Personal Training has expanded their fitness space to include Synners OCR (along with bootcamps, kids and senior fitness). Located on the Southeast corner of Herndon and First in north Fresno, you can see the “rigs” and high walls from the street.
We met upstairs, signed a waiver and hit the warmup with squat jumps and burpees. After the warmup, they walked us through the obstacles and gave us pointers to succeed. I learned how to climb a rope and jump over a 10 foot wall, I’m feeling pretty awesome about that. The trainers are knowledgable and interactive, everything an obstacle course newbie needs.
I was sore from the abnormal functional use of my upper body (scaling a wall is not my norm) and I had a little sweat going. Fitness beginners are welcome but the group I was with was moderate to very active and under 45 years old. This is not a fashion show, you’ll get splinters through your nicer athletic wear so throw on a t-shirt, tennis shoes and anything you can move in.
